Hand-Carved Stoneware Vase with Reactive Glaze
This beautiful wheel-thrown stoneware vase is enhanced with hand-carved detailing. Each piece is then hand-dipped in a reactive glaze that shows variations of blue, grey, and soft brown.
These are the perfect size for smaller arrangements. Each vase is intended to be a little bit different in size and shape so that they provide visual interest when grouped together. While the same amount of clay is used for each piece, they are thrown “free form” so some will be a little wider/shorter, while others will be a bit narrower/taller. Measurements below are approximate.
Measures approximately 12cm tall with a 6cm opening at the top.
Price is per one vase.
FAQ: What is a reactive glaze?
Glazes are intended to completely melt inside a kiln when they reach a specific temperature, essentially turning into glass. Some glazes are designed to move when they melt, resulting in more variability in the finished colour. They may be one colour where they are thinner, and another where they pool and become thicker. This is often referred to as “breaks” in the glaze. The family of glazes that "run" are known as reactive glazes.
